4th Europaen Blues Challenge 2014, Riga, Latvia, 2014

On April 11-12, a blues band competition took place in Riga, Latvia as part of the European Blues Challenge 2014. The competition was organized by the European Blues Union (www.europeanbluesunion.com ) supported by The Blues Foundation (Memphis, USA, www. blues.org)
As part of the competition, a general meeting of association members from over 20 European countries was also organized (Poland was represented by the Suwałki Blues Festival and the quarterly “Twój Blues”). Additionally, during the meeting there was the so-called Blues Market, where important European blues festivals, agencies, associations and blues performers promoted themselves. 19 bands auditioned over two days. The first prize was won by the band A Contra Blues from Spain, and the second place was taken by the band Pristine from Norway. As a reward, both distinguished bands received offers to perform at several of the most important European blues festivals.
